Mollie is a new friend of mine that I met through last months MFB Mallori & I am SO glad that I have! She is hilarious & tends to have a very original look on things that makes you step back and think in ways that you never have. :)
Please welcome my newest friend
(My husband thinks she's one of the funniest gals of all the blogs I read!)
Without further adoPlease welcome my newest friend
Mollie!!
1. Tell us a little about yourself.
I don't have pets. Honestly, I blank when I'm confronted by open-ended questions such as this one. So, I guess in addition to being petless, I prefer specific and pointed directions. I mean, I could go anywhere with this and you'd have to put up with that.
I'm 31 years old chronologically. In my head, I'm still 17-19, depends on the day. Probably explains why I don't do well with authority...even mine.
I'm from Oklahoma and I'm living in the UK. Don't be jealous. It sucks here at times in ways I never expected. Think economics... there's opportunity costs and transaction costs of living here that no one tells you exist.
Yeah, at times it's pretty here and the scenery can be a balm for the ruffled soul feathers; it just isn't home. Call me Dorothy and I'll punch you in the ovaries over the internet.
I'm actually a very upbeat person, but not when I'm thinking about the generality of here.
2. What is your favorite Lazy Sunday routine?
Lazy Sunday? I have to work on Sundays so I don't get the laze-abed jollies that I used to. Sad. Le sigh. But! After I get off work, the bus schedule at that time allows me a half hour to spend at the best pub in Durham, The Head of Steam. And then either I cook dinner after I get home or we get a curry at our local takeaway. Or a Chicken Pot. That stuff is beautiful.
3. Why/how did you get started blogging?
I started blogging in late spring 2010 in order to document the move here and the life we lead while we're here. Originally, it was merely for friends and family in the US to keep up with us. Funnily, not many did. I update fairly often and when Skyping with people back home, they ask me what's new. I have to just look at them like this: ಠ_ಠ And then something interesting occurred... other people who I don't know in real life starting being interested in what I was writing about.
4.What is your favorite "Lose Yourself" book of the moment?
Nice way to phrase that, "Lose Yourself". I call it ignoring everyone around me. Just finished Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Some lovely jewel drew penises and frilly hats on all the illustrations. And fart clouds. That book was nicely done. I especially liked the ninjas. I'm on the waiting list for the new Jean M Auel book. I don't feel like spending £9. Mother calls me thrifty; I call me cheap-o. I probably would've re-read the whole Harry Potter series if I'd brought it out here. I re-read them at least once a year. That's right suckers. I re-read books.
5. How did you come up with the name of your blog?
OK in UK. OK is Oklahoma's address abbreviation. I'm from Oklahoma. So a bit of Oklahoma is in the UK. OK is also short for okay. I'm okay in the UK. It's all about positive thinking, Zig Ziglar and Tony Robbins style. OK is also aligned with mediocrity... and there's an abundance of items that I find mediocre here... but not the butter. The butter here kicks the ass of any butter the US pretends to. I know I'm an ass for going on the record to say that OK can mean mediocre and that there's things here that are mediocre. But you haven't seen my couch or the cleanliness of the buses.
6. What is you favorite movie of the moment?
Zombieland, but I do love falling asleep while watching Harry Potter 5.
7. What is your favorite thing to blog?
Everything. Why? What do you like best that I blog about? No one tells me these things. Is there a manual?8. What is your top "sing&dance your heart out" song of the moment?
Most likely anything by David Bowie. I have not listened to the radio since last May (NO CAR!) and so do not know what new stuff I'm missing out on. Rebecca Black's Friday is catchy. It has a beat and you can dance to it. (side-eye)9. Link the top 3 favorite blogs you wrote, & tell us what was behind your writing them.
Writing Exercise @ http://mollieisokinuk.blogspot.com/2011/02/writing-exercise.html
I joined up with a fellow blogger to write a short vignette (short, impressionistic scenes that focus on one moment or give a particular insight into a character, idea, or setting).
Love Letter to Tesco's Christmas Scottish All-Butter Shortbread Selection @http://mollieisokinuk.blogspot.com/2011/02/love-letter-to-tescos-christmas.html
FTLOB prompted the followers to write love letters for the love link up in February. I laughed the entire time I wrote it.
What Do We Miss If We Never Look Up? @ http://mollieisokinuk.blogspot.com/2010/12/what-do-we-miss-if-we-never-look-up.html
Instead of looking down as I was walking in the market square, I looked up and this is what I saw.
10. Who/what do you want to be when you
"Grow up"?
I don't want to grow up. Adulthood sucks donkey balls! I've felt this way since I was 13. But if I really must choose, then I want to be the first white female African warlord. And I want to change my name to NMandelababe.
11. Link the top 3 blogs you read.
Your "Daily Must Checks"
12. Describe/show your top "Can't live without" Item
Sunglasses. The buggier the better.
13. Whats your favorite time of the year?
My favorite time of the year usually happens three times... once in April, once in July, and once in October. I know, I know....weird.14. What is something you would like to try in the future of your blog?
I'd like to try POV video blogging. But I think that really, it's just very stupid.
15. If you could re-live any moment in your life,
Oh dear sweet Jeebus, there is absolutely no moment I want to re-live, ever. Not even the good days. Most of the time, I'm a frump and while I don't mind it at present, why look at myself again? Eeeeyeeucch. No. I believe in "Keep Moving Forward". I'll apologize for any transgressions, but I don't want to make it so I never did them. Otherwise, I wouldn't be this frumpy, funky, funny, freaky smartassy egalitarian that I am today. Plus, my family has a history of Alzheimer's and dementia...so I'll be re-living my past soon enough, thank you.
See?? Like I said... HILARIOUS!! Even reading this again for the umpteeth time I'm still giggling...
Want more sas, frass, & laughs??
